Brett Hartmann

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan junior punter Brett Hartmann of Menomonee Falls (Wisc.) High School has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Special Teams Player of the Week.

Brett Hartmann averaged 39.0 yards on five punts in the Chippewas' 20-13 win at Buffalo on Saturday. Two of Hartmann's three fourth-quarter points forced Buffalo to start drives inside its own 10-yard line.

Hartmann also had a season-long 57-yard punt in the first quarter that forced Buffalo to start at its own 16-yard line. The Bulls returned two punts for a net of just 4 yards in Saturday's game.

Hartmann earns the conference's weekly honor for the first time this season and second time in his career. He is the third different Chippewa in the last four weeks to be named MAC West Special Teams Player of the Week.

Kicker Andrew Aguila collected the honor after his game-winning field goal against Michigan State on Sept. 12, and Antonio Brown was the honoree after returning a punt 55 yards for a touchdown against Alcorn State on Sept. 19.

Central Michigan (4-1 overall, 2-0 MAC) hosts Eastern Michigan at noon Saturday.
