Taylor Excited to Join the Chippewas
"Coach Stripling welcomed me to the program, saying CMU was a good school and a great opportunity for me," Taylor said. "I wanted to commit when I was up to campus last week (Aug. 2), but I came home and talked it over with my family and high school coach first.
"What I like most about CMU is the coaches care so much, it's a family atmosphere," Taylor added. "Now I can just concentrate on my senior year."
Last season, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound Taylor scored 10 touchdowns in helping lead Inkster to a 12-2 record and state title game appearance. CMU discovered Taylor at the University of Michigan camp in June where he stood out as one of the top wide receivers.
"The CMU coaches told me they liked my size and speed and the fact that I was getting separation and running good routes," Taylor said.
Taylor becomes the 12th known verbal commitment in the Chippewas' 2010 recruiting class, choosing CMU over Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan. Taylor will join his old friend and fellow wide receiver Montrel Robinson of Southfield (Mich.) Lathrup High School at CMU.
"Montrel and I attended the same middle school and played basketball and ran track together," Taylor said. "It will be great to be teammates again (at CMU).
The Chippewas are also recruiting two of Taylor's Inkster teammates, twin brothers Daniel and Nathan Lindsey, both of whom could project at defensive back or running back at the next level.
"I've talked to them about coming to CMU too and I know they like it up there," Taylor said. "They've played together all of their lives so that's a possibility they'll want to play on the same team in college."
