Brunner, Aguila Earn MAC West Honors
Brunner, making his third career start and first since Sept. 30, 2006, completed 20-of-28 passes for 346 yards and a touchdown to pace an offense that produced season highs in points (38) and total yards (524). The Chippewas were 10-for-15 on third downs in the game, including conversions on third-and-16, third-and-25 and third-and-21 – all Brunner completions – that extended three different scoring drives.
Brunner earns the conference's player of the week honor for the second time in his career.
Aguila was a perfect 5-for-5 on point-after attempts and converted a 20-yard field goal attempt with 1:20 remaining to account for eight points in the win. Aguila is 23-for-23 on extra points and 8-for-10 on field goals this season.
This is Aguila's second career player of the week honor. He also was recognized after converting four point-after attempts and two field goals against Western Michigan in 2007.
Central Michigan (5-2 overall, 4-0 MAC) embarks on its second three-game road trip of the season this weekend when it visits Toledo. Kickoff is at noon, and the game will be televised as the MAC Game of the Week.
