CMU Football Welcomes Key Recruits to Campus

The Central Michigan University football program is hosting some standout high school players from Michigan and Florida this weekend.

Chippewas Insider has learned that Central Michigan University is hosting 10 key football recruits this weekend.

The high school players include running back Jahleel Addae (5-11, 185) of Riverview (Fla.) High School. Rated among the top 100 players in talent rich Florida this season, Addae originally committed to West Virginia University last April. He's gained more than 3,700 yards and scored 49 touchdowns in three years as a varsity player for Riverview. This season he carried the ball 215 times for 1,426 yards and 15 TDs for the Sharks.

Also visiting CMU this weekend is defensive end Kashawn Fraser (6-3, 215) of Coconut Creek (Fla.) Monarch High School. Playing in just his first season of organized football for Monarch, Fraser was named to the elite Broward/Dade All-Star game, to be played Sunday night in Fort Lauderdale. Fraser reports scholarship offers from Toledo, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, Florida Atlantic, Florida International and Arkansas State in addition to the Chippewas.

A third uncommitted recruit on campus this weekend is athlete Erik Thompson (6-0, 180) of Macomb (Mich.) L'Anse Creuse North High School. Thompson, recently rated the No. 42 player in Michigan by the Detroit News on its annual Blue Chip List, reports offers from CMU and Eastern Michigan.

The Chippewas are also hosting seven recruits on their official visits who've already verbally committed to CMU. Those seven players are defensvie back John Carr, defensive lineman Steve Winston, running back Bryan Schroeder, offensive lineman Grant Cartwright, cornerback Lavarus Williams, tight end David Blackburn and wide receiver Valtorrey Showers.
