Two Florida Standouts Commit to CMU
Chippewas Insider has learned that two of those recruits, both from south Florida, verbally committed to CMU before leaving campus Sunday.
The two players who've joined the Chippewas 2008 recruiting class are running back Paris Cotton (5-8, 175, 4.45) of Hialeah High School, and defensive tackle John Williams (6-0, 290) of Miami Central High School.
This season for Hialeah, Cotton carried 125 times for 854 yards (6.8 yards per carry) and scored 12 touchdowns. Cotton also considered offers and interest from Louisville, Kansas State and Kent State among other schools.
Williams is a big, strong defensive tackle known for his quickness and athleticism. He was also being recruited by the University of Miami among other schools.
Cotton and Williams join fellow Floridian Jamal Collins of Miami Northwestern High School in CMU's 2008 recruiting class. With the addition of Cotton and Williams, the Chippewas now have 13 verbal commitments for their "08 class.
