MOUNT PLEASANT - The Central Michigan Universtiy football program leads the Mid-American Conference in Academic All-MAC honorees for the second consecutive season.

Six members of the CMU program were named to the academic all-conference squad on Tuesday. This is the second straight year in which CMU has led the conference in both All-MAC and Academic All-MAC selections.

Linebacker Red Keith and offensive lineman Eric Tunney are making their third consecutive appearance on the Academic All-MAC team, while quarterback Dan LeFevour is on the team for the second straight year. First-time selections are wide receiver Bryan Anderson, offensive lineman Andrew Hartline and defensive end Frank Zombo.

Five of the six (Keith, Tunney, LeFevour, Anderson and Hartline) were named to both the All-MAC and Academic All-MAC squads in 2007.

The Academic All-MAC team is voted upon by the conference's 13 faculty athletics representatives. To qualify, student-athletes must compete in 50 percent of the season's contests and have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average.

Central Michigan (8-5 overall) defeated Miami, 35-10, in the MAC Championship Game on Dec. 1 to win its second straight conference title. The Chippewas will face Purdue in the Motor City Bowl on Dec. 26.
