The Central Michigan University football program has accepted an invitation to play in the 2007 Motor City Bowl Dec. 26 at Detroit's Ford Field.
The Mid-American Conference announced today that
Central Michigan
University has accepted an invitation to play in the Motor City Bowl, which wil be played at Detroit's Ford Field against a Big Ten opponent on Wednesday, Dec. 26.
The Chippewas opponent in the Motor City Bowl is expected to be announced Sunday, Dec. 1. The Big Ten opponent is expected to be
Michigan State
,
Indiana
or
Purdue
University.
CMU head coach Butch Jones was excited at the prospect of returning to Forld Field for the Motor City Bowl.
"Sure, it's the state of Michigan, it would be good for the school and the fans," Jones said.
The Chippewas appeared in the 2006 Motor City Bowl, defeating
Middle Tennessee
State 31-14 for CMU's first Division I (Football Bowl Subdivision) bowl victory.
The MAC also announced Saturday that
Ball State
will play
Rutgers
University in the International Bowl in Toronto on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008; and
Bowling Green
had accepted an invitatiion to play in the GMAC Bowl in Mobile, Ala., against a team from Conference USA on Sunday, Jan. 6.
The MAC boasts the second best bowl winning percentage among FBS conferences since 1999 with an overall record of 11-8 (.579).
