MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University sophomore cornerback Josh Gordy and sophomore quarterback Dan LeFevour have been named Mid-American Conference West Division Players of the Week.
Dan LeFevour
earns the nod on offense, while
Josh Gordy
is the co-recipient of the defensive honor.
LeFevour, a product of Lisle (Ill.) Benet Academy, completed 30-of-39 passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 100 yards and a career-high four touchdowns in CMU’s 47-23 win over
Army
on Saturday. He became CMU’s all-time leader in touchdown passes when he threw his 39th career scoring pass in the second quarter.
Gordy, of Sandersville (Ga.) Washington County High School, tied a school record with three interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown, and tallied a career-high 10 tackles. Gordy’s first two interceptions came on consecutive snaps—Army’s final offensive play of the first quarter and first offensive snap of the second quarter—and both led to CMU touchdowns. He returned his third interception 15 yards for a score in the fourth quarter.
LeFevour earns the conference’s weekly honor for the second consecutive week and third time in his career. Gordy is recognized by the MAC for the first time in 2007 and second time in his career.
Five different CMU players have earned MAC West Player of the Week accolades in 2007.
Central Michigan
(4-3 overall, 3-0 MAC, 3-0 MAC West), winner of three straight games, visits
Clemson
on Saturday at noon. ESPNU will televise the contest.
