CLEVELAND, Ohio - Central Michigan University senior guard Giordan Watson of Birmingham (Mich.) Groves High School has been named to the Preseason All-Mid-American Conference West Division squad.

Watson ranked second in the MAC and 47th nationally last season with 18.8 points per game. In conference play, he was the league’s leading scorer with 19.8 point per game. In all, Watson ranked among the MAC leaders in seven statistical categories: second in scoring (18.8), sixth in assists (4.16), fifth in free throw percentage (.825), eighth in steals (1.65), 10th in three-point percentage (.386), seventh in three-pointers made (2.06), and eighth in assist/turnover ratio (1.09).
Watson was named to the all-tournament team at the 2007 MAC Tournament and was twice tabbed MAC West Division Player of the Week last season. He became just the second
Central Michigan
player to ever record 500 points and 125 assists in a season (James McElroy) and he ranked among the top 10 in CMU single season history in five categories: seventh in points (582), eighth in three-pointers attempted (166), seventh in three-pointers made (64), tied for sixth in steals (51), and tied for 10th in assists (129).
He enters his final campaign ranked in four categories of the CMU career record book: 11th in points (1,255), third in steals (145), and sixth in assists (351) and three-pointers made (135).
Watson and the Chippewas open the season on Nov. 12 when they travel to face the
