Bazuin Named Defensive MVP of Shrine Game

Central Michigan University defensive end Daniel Bazuin of McBain (Mich.) High School has been named the Defensive Most Valuable Player of the East-West Shrine Game.

Although the West team defeated the East, 21-3, at Houston's Reliant Stadium last evening, it was Central Michigan defensive end Daniel Bazuin who was the defensive standout of the 82nd East-West Shrine Game.

A starter for the East squad, Bazuin recorded 2 1/2 sacks and two tackles for a loss to be named the game's defensive most valuable player.

The career sacks leader for the Chippewas and a preseason All-American, Bazuin helped lead CMU to its fifth Mid-Amercan Conference Championship this season and a victory over Middle Tennessee State in the Motor City Bowl.

Some draft analysts project Bazuin to be drafted in the first two rounds of the upcoming NFL Draft, along with his CMU teammate, offensive tackle Joe Staley.

Both Bazuin and Staley, along with a third Chippewa teammate, center Drew Mormino, have all been invited to participate in the upcoming NFL Scouting Combine Feb. 21-27 at Indianapolis, Ind.
