MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University redshirt freshman quarterback Dan LeFevour of Lisle (Ill.) Benet Academy has been named the Mid-American Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 4.

Dan LeFevour, who maintains a 3.68 grade-point average, was named MVP of the Motor City Bowl after accounting for 231 yards of total offense and two touchdowns in the Chippewas' 31-14 win over Middle Tennessee State on Dec. 26. He threw for 162 yards and a score and ran for 69 yards and a touchdown.

The 2006 MAC Freshman of the Year and a first team All-MAC selection, LeFevour set new CMU single-season records for passing yards (3,031), touchdown passes (26) and yards of total offense (3,552).

The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
