Michigan Standout Commits to CMU

CMU Football Recruiting 2007

The Central Michigan University football program received some great news in the form of a verbal commitment a day after losing former head coach Brian Kelly to Cincinnati.

Chippewas Insider has learned that tight end Rocky Weaver (6-6, 230) of Battle Creek (Mich.) Harper Creek High School made a verbal commitment to Central Michigan University yesterday.

Weaver took his official visit to CMU this past weekend (Dec. 1-3). This season he led Harper Creek to an 10-2 record and a district championship. He was a consensus all-state pick.

Weaver also reported offers from Mid-American Conference rivals Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan. Additionally, he was receiving recruiting interest from Michigan State.

Weaver becomes the eleventh overall verbal commitment and eighth Michigan prep player in the Chippewas 2007 recruiting class.
