MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University freshman Eric Fraser of Burnaby (B.C.) Central Secondary School has been named Mid-American Conference West Division Special Teams Player of the Week.

Eric Fraser returned five kickoffs for 124 yards (24.8 ypr) in the Chippewas’ 45-36 loss at Kentucky on Saturday night. Each of his five returns covered at least 23 yards. He had a pair of 23-yard returns in the second half that set up CMU scoring drives.

For the season, Fraser has returned 13 kickoffs for 347 yards (26.7 ypr). He ranks 21st nationally in kickoff return yardage.

Fraser is the second CMU player to earn the conference’s weekly special teams honor. Junior punter Tony Mikulec was recognized after averaging 42.3 yards on seven punts and running for a first down on a fake field goal in the season opener against Boston College.

Central Michigan (2-3 overall, 2-0 MAC) closes out a three-game road swing at Toledo on Saturday at 7 p.m. ESPNU will televise the contest to a national audience.
