MOUNT PLEASANT - Former Central Michigan University tight end Tory Humphrey has signed a free agent contract with the Green Bay Packers.

A four-year letterman at Central Michigan, Tory Humphrey caught 68 passes in his Chippewa career for 862 yards and seven touchdowns. He was selected to the Freshman All-America Team by The Sporting News after catching 24 passes and scoring three touchdowns in 2001.

Humphrey, entering his first season in the National Football League, originally signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent in April. He now joins former Chippewa defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins in Green Bay's preseason camp. Jenkins, entering his second pro season, ranked second among his teammates with 4-1/2 sacks in 2004.

Humphrey is the second Chippewa to catch on with an NFL squad this summer, joining former safety James King who signed with Cleveland. Six former CMU players are currently taking part in preseason drills with NFL clubs.
