The Central Michigan University basketball team had a big visitor from the Buckeye State this weekend. He has since returned to Ohio where he gave the Chippewas a verbal commitment Monday night.

Chippewas Insider has learned that Center Drew Walker (7-1, 265) of Port Clinton (Ohio) High School has made a verbal commitment to play basketball for Head Coach Jay Smith and CMU.

Walker is rated among the top 15 players in Ohio's class of 2004. He becomes the heir apparent to Chris Kaman, who was the sixth overall pick in this year's NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers.

Walker had interest from several Division I schools, including West Virginia, Dayton, Bowling Green and Toledo. Chippewas Insider will follow-up on this late breaking news with a news feature later this week.
