2014: Another Prospect in Walled Lake

Walled Lake Western (Mich.) had a good season, and has a senior headed off to the BCS level. Next season, the school may produce a couple more college players, including 6'5, 275-lb offensive tackle Alex Joss, who has size and ability.

At 6'5, 275-lbs, Alex Joss is a junior to watch out for in the Midwest. Not only does he have size, but on film, shows many of the traits colleges will look for in an offensive tackle.

"I played varsity my sophomore year," he said. "I started a couple games. This was my first year as the full time starter. I think we did pretty good this year. We had a good run in the playoffs and lost to the eventual state champs. I think we surprised a lot of people. I was pretty happy."

Schools came through Western quite frequently for senior safety Josh Jones, currently committed to Illinois. They should return next year for Joss, how is already hearing from several programs.

"I have visited a few MAC schools. I visited Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Western Michigan and Toledo, and I'm getting letters from Iowa and Ball State. Eastern and Central have stopped by the school."

As the process moves along, Joss hopes to hear from more schools, and wants it to start in the Midwest.

"Just any Big Ten schools pretty much. I'm probably going to Michigan camp. I went to that last year and then probably a camp at Toledo, Eastern and then just play it by ear after that. I went to Toledo big man camp last year."

On last summer's camp at Michigan, Joss said, "I think the camp went pretty well. It was four days. It was a good experience. I think I learned a lot and it was overall a good experience. I didn't get a whole lot of feedback [from the coaches]."

Joss carries a 3.78 GPA in the classroom. He made 1st team All-Conference this year.
