Chippewas Insider has just learned that Central Michigan University received a verbal commitment yesterday from one of the highest rated quarterbacks in the Midwest.

Hartford (Wisc.) Union High School Quarterback Brian Brunner (6-3, 205) has confirmed via e-mail that he made a verbal commitment to CMU Monday afternoon. Brunner is ranked by a number of scouting services as the No. 1 rated quarterback in the State of Wisconsin this year and one of the top 10 QBs in the Midwest.

Brunner becomes the fifth verbal commitment in the Chippewas 2004 class, joining three offensive linemen and one defensive end. He's thrown for nearly 4,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in three years of varsity competition at Hartford Union.

Chippewas Insider will have more on this breaking news later in the week.
