The University of Detroit Mercy dominated from start to finish, cruising to an easy 75-49 victory over Central Michigan University Saturday night at McGuirk Arena.
The University of Detroit Mercy showed little mercy Saturday night in handing
Central Michigan
its fifth straight loss, 75-49.
"They came in here and totally dismantled us," CMU head coach Ernie Zeigler said, "it was embarrassing."
The Titans (7-5, 1-0 Horizon League), were led by freshman point guard Ray McCallum, who tallied 23 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.
Following a

layup with 6:23 remaining in the first half, the Chippewas (2-8) trailed UDM 17-16. The Titans then went on a 14-4 run to closeout the first half with a commanding 31-20 lead they would never relinquish.
"We really struggled to score," said Trey, who led the Chippewas with 21 points, including 6-of-13 free throws. "I tried to be more aggressive tonight, to drive and get to the line."
"We passed up so many open shots in the first half," coach Zeigler said. "The majority of our shots ended up being contested at the end of possessions."
The Titans opened the second half with an 11-2 run that extended their lead to 42-22 before a media timeout at the 15:57 mark.
"We're back at square one," coach Zeigler said. "We're an extremely soft team right now. One thing I promise you is there will be some tougher guys on that floor."
Zeigler said he was encouraged by the player of junior forward
Andre Coimbra
, who tallied 10 points and eight rebounds for the Chippewas.
I thought Andre showed some fight," coach Zeigler said. "It was one of the small positives in the game."
CMU now prepares for South Dakota State Monday night at McGuirk Arena. Tipoff is set for 7p.m. The Jackrabbits enter the game with a 7-3 record following a 77-74 loss at
Western Michigan
Saturday night.
