MOUNT PLEASANT - Eight Central Michigan football players earned All-Mid-American Conference honors for their efforts during the 2010 season.
Senior linebackers
Nick Bellore
and
Matt Berning
were named to the first team defense.
Senior offensive linemen
Jeff Maddux
and
Colin Miller
and sophomore receiver
Cody Wilson
were second team offense selections, while senior defensive lineman
Sean Murnane
, senior defensive back
Vince Agnew
and sophomore defensive back
Jahleel Addae
all were selected to the third team defense. Wilson also was recognized as the third team punt return specialist.
Bellore becomes the sixth player in
Central Michigan
history to earn All-MAC first team honors in three different seasons. He ranked second on the team with 90 tackles in 2010, despite missing one full game and parts of two others due to injuries. Bellore finished his career with 472 tackles, third most in school history.
Berning earns All-MAC honors for the first time after leading the Chippewas in tackles (102), tackles for loss (13) and sacks (four) in 2010. Berning made at least 11 tackles in four different games, including a season-high 13 at
Northwestern
on Sept. 25.
This is the fifth-consecutive season that at least one CMU linebacker has earned All-MAC first team honors.
Maddux is a member of the all-conference team for the first time in his career. A starter in 47 games during his career, including all 12 this season, Maddux made 39 career starts at left guard and eight at right guard.
Miller is a repeat selection to the All-MAC second team as a center. He started 46 games during his career, including 42 at center.
Maddux and Miller were the only two linemen to start all 12 games in 2010 for an offense that ranked second in the MAC in passing (284.0 ypg) and third in total offense (389.8 ypg).
Wilson earned all-conference second team accolades after posting one of the top receiving seasons in school history. He caught 83 passes for 1,137 yards and five touchdowns in 2010, recording just the sixth 1,000-yard receiving season in school history. Wilson's 83 receptions rank fifth on CMU's single-season list, while his 1,137 receiving yards is the third highest single-season total in school history. Wilson caught 10 or more passes in four games and had at least 100 receiving yards in six games.
The sophomore also was named to the All-MAC third team as a punt return specialist. He averaged 119.4 all-purpose yards per game in 2010.
Murnane is a member of the All-MAC third team for the third consecutive season. He was credited with 36 tackles, including nine tackles for loss, from his defensive tackle position in 2010. Murnane, who appeared in all 53 games over the past four seasons, finished his career with 156 tackles, including 24.5 for a loss of yardage.
Addae collected all-conference third team honors after his first season as a starter in the Chippewas' secondary. Addae ranked third on the team in tackles (80) and made at least 10 stops in four different games.
Agnew also earned all-conference honors for the first time. A starter in all 12 games, Agnew ranked fifth on the team in tackles (73) and led the Chippewas in pass breakups (six). He made a career-high 12 tackles and forced a fumble in a win over
Western Michigan
on Nov. 5.
CMU closed the 2010 season 3-9 overall, 2-6 in the MAC.
